Β° 1 pound lean ground beef
Β° 2 tablespoons of butter
Β° 1 small yellow onion, diced
Β° 1 small green pepper, diced
Β° 8 ounces sliced ββbrown mushrooms
Β° 2 tablespoons of ketchup
Β° 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
Β° 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
Β° 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Β° 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Β° 1 glass of beef broth
Β° 8 oz Provolone cheese slices, chopped (use 6 oz if you don’t want it to be too cheesy)
Β° 6 brioche hamburger buns
Instructions :
β Add the ground beef to a large cast iron skillet (it browns very well) and brown until a nice brown crust appears before breaking the beef into pieces.
β Stir ground beef and sautΓ© until a deep crust appears on about 50% of the beef.
β Remove the beef (you can leave the fat) and add the butter and the onions, then the peppers and mushrooms.
β Brown for 1-2 minutes before stirring, then brown for another 1-2 minutes before stirring again.
β Return the beef to the skillet.
β In a small cup mix the beef broth and cornstarch together
β Add the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, beef broth/cornstarch mixture to the pan.
β Cook until the mixture is slightly liquid (about 75% of the mixture is above liquid), 3-5 minutes.
β Turn off the heat, add the provolone cheese.
β Served on toasted brioche buns.
